Act two of the Gaza slaughter has begun. Death from above now continues on the ground. Overwhelming firepower from tanks, artillery and aircraft are killing women and children indiscriminately.

Reports speak of civilians cowering inside as battles rage, terrified residents in other areas fleeing in fear, the windows of the house being blown out, people living without electricity, surviving without heat and eating cold food.

The death toll was already high, and will turn higher still with the ground invasion. Palestinians know from grim experience that the death of one Israeli citizen justifies the indiscriminate murder of hundreds of Palestinians.

All this, we are told, is in Israel’s “self-defense”. But this is not going to improve Israel’s security. Indiscriminate killing of women and children will never do. In the coming days it could get worse and in the long-term this massacre could create a new generation of radicals. They do not have to be supporters of Hamas nor do they have to be religious fanatics.

As it resumes its slaughter, Israel and its friends, neocons in the US and others, continue to defend the indefensible. It was all because of Hamas’ intransigence. Did not they refuse to renew cease-fire? Did not they fire rockets at southern Israel?

Nobody bothers to think about the terms of the cease-fire violated by Israel. One condition was that Israel would lift the penalizing blockade it imposed on the Gaza Strip. Nobody bothers to ask how it is that Israel can impose such a blockade. Israel can collectively punish Gaza by imposing a blockade, for electing a government not to its liking, only because Gaza Strip happens to be under the occupation of the Jewish state despite the “disengagement” of Israeli troops. So the core issue is occupation though US President George W. Bush and German Chancellor Angela Merkel would not admit it. The core issue is a Nazi-like occupation, not Hamas, not one or two crude rockets falling on Sderot.

Even the goal of regime change in Gaza may have made some sense if Israel had treated the “good Palestinians” in West Bank with a minimum of respect. What has President Mahmoud Abbas who has chosen the path of negotiation and accommodation with Israel to show for his moderation? Nothing apart from some praise from Bush and his neocon followers and a doubling of Jewish settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. Israel and its American friends may be delighted to note that their actions have created a rift between West Bank (Fatah) and Gaza (Hamas).

But there is another rift that should worry them. This is the widening gap between Abbas and the people of West Bank. Israeli actions in Gaza are not the only reason for this rift. A major reason is the feeling that Abbas has not been able to bring about even the slightest change in the Israeli attitude toward Palestinians.

So the ground invasion of Gaza will not solve the underlying problem. Neither would calls from Western capitals for restraint on the part of killers and their victims. The ground invasion may silence Hamas’ weapons to some extent and for some time but never the Palestinian voice.

More and more Palestinians in West Bank now realize that Israel’s fight against Hamas is part of a broader war against the Palestinians in both West Bank and Gaza. If the West does not realize this and take some corrective action immediately, the West Bank may very soon go the Gaza way with much more tragic consequences.

but i have no other resort..
i moved from my home state.
when i came to this state, i noticed the amount of gang member/ghetto people living around here, cuz of my skool. i lived in a hotel for a while, and then moved to another hotel.
i did not like the concept altho i was not unhappy.
people at my skool have been getting to me. real bad.
i usually put them aside, but they are becoming really bad. i mean, its not my mind- but rather what they DO.

kay, first thing- this boy.
see, last year, this girl started stuff with me, and she thinks shes queen bee. she said that i “talk to bushes”.
people believed her, and started thinking of me as a creep/wierdo.
what REALLY happened was i was talking to my friend, who was totally visible. there is no excuse for them to talk like this.

so, things got to being ok again, and no one asked me again if i talked to bushes.
i started becoming friends with some people, etc.
then that girl started again.
saying the same thing.
AND saying that i liked her boyfriend, who i would NEVER like.

so, my so-called FRIENDS deserted me, and dont talk anymore!!
i am a person that has to have someone that i am okay/familiar with at all times. now, this is REALLY getting to bother me and freak me out.

so, the girl quit saying stuff- just when everyone else started to.
for a while there, they made partially SEXUAL comments at me about my chest, and talked about what i would be like naked, and even asking me if i was “coming over tonight”. i ignored this and told them no, and they were okay with me for a while, even flirting.

then they started saying i was ugly, and that i was wierd, and stuff like that. i didnt really care.

MAINLY, it was this one boy. he invited me to a party,
his friends got disappointed when i was the only person that even SHOWED UP at first! so then they were like “who invited HER?!” and he said that he did, and that i wasnt all that bad. they argued “why did u invite her??!” and all kinds of things, right in front of me. i just was like “wtf, dude, what kinda party is this?! no ones here!” cuz no one was. so then, they ended up actually being okay with me a small while later, and were actually pretty fun guys.
i am in 8th grade.

anyway, i have no actual friends around here, and im almost 1000 miles away from home, where all my friends really are. my friends at this skool only talk to me every once in a while.
and i cant stand this. i love to go on and on about the hot dude i saw at the store, and all kinds of other things.
and i admit this too lol =D

the boy keeps getting meaner and meaner to me, and the funny thing is- when no ones around, he talks to me like normally.
when people are around, however, he is a real pain in the @$$. really. he sits there and says “ew” if he has to take papers that i hand back to him, and if i do something about it, the teacher steps up, for HIM.
if i say something about class to a girl near me, they say “umm no one asked yer opinion”. and ignore me after that.

if i talk to someone, i have to yell at them cuz they ignore me.

im beginning to get really depressed.
and people around me, a dwindling amout, tell me that everyone around me is “just jealous” or they are “wrong” but i am really seeing that they are not, when they say that i am ugly and wierd and stupid, etc..

what REALLY gets me is that now, people are throwing things at me in class. it is not girls, but rather guys. i would figure that the girls would be the ones irritating me, but it is the guys. they throw paper wads at me, and then if they are assigned a seat near me, they say “uh, NO, im not sitting there.” and then they tell someone around them that it even “hurts them to LOOK at me”.

ALL my friends are on the other “team” as we have teams, at the skool. they are awesome, but i rarely see them, and am getting to rarely talk to them. im getting to rarely talk to anyone. and i cant stand it anymore.

what am i supposed to do here tho??!

we moved in to a house, and the landlord lied and sued us cuz we had a dog, which we had told her about in the first place!! and she got us for not paying rent, when she was trying to kick us out, and going back and forth saying “stay, leave, stay, leave”
and then we got kicked out, so of course, we are back in this hotel. i go almost nowhere and i see almost no one except for my parents. i cannot be alone. i am not happy here.

if things were going better in skool, i wouldnt be so sad, but everythings just gone. all my friends, my home.. and now, my confidence.. idk what to DO anymore!

why are those people at that skool LIKE that, no matter what i do?!

ok well .. when i play 3d games on my nintendo ds … or when i play with the stick/stylus .. it seems when i move my guy around ( in zelda / animal crossing .. the only games i have) its like everything kind of shakes a tiny bit … if you know what i mean .. i think it might just be the grahics for the ds ,,, but if its not i dont know what to do .. like bushes or jars or rocks in zelda phantom hourglass move a little when links moving … i dont know if anyone knows what i mean ,… but i hope so

From what I remember Bush was allowed to **** up before people started attacking him with the anger of the last 4-5 years. Obama will screw up, I know that because he’s a politician, he’s human and he’s going to be an American President. Can’t you give the guy the courtesy of waiting until he starts making mistakes before attacking him?

Also all those horrible senate votes he made were pretty much the same gung-ho patriot act flag waving votes McCain and half of Washington DC were making in the years after 9/11

Mercadies - I know the truth, Obama is dirty but at least wait until the man steps into office before losing your mind. Bushes dirt was out in the open before his FATHER had even stepped into office.
Mike A - I remember 2000 just fine, you remember how bad it got when the whole Voting rigging fiasco started? How was anyone supposed to take him seriously when dozens of TV stations reported Al Gore the winner then back tracked to say Bush had won? Not only that but they kept the story going for months after the election. No one trusted Bush from the get go and before that it was his incompetence. However I don’t remember people coming at him with the type of anger Obama is facing.
